Still Life by Bruce Cohen, a California painter whose work I admire. I don’t know the title of this painting, I just love it. His compositions are geometric and architectural, while the mood he expresses is intimate, spacial and atmospheric. You feel as though you’re intruding upon someone’s personal space, a theme I’ve explored in the past. I wrote him to ask about his technique; was he using an indirect grisaille method? He simply replied, “Yes.” I’m told the flowers in his paintings are cut from his own garden.
