2003. Twenty years ago. Then Governor Mike Huckabee attends an exhibition at the Arkansas state capitol featuring a display of some of my music related designs. Clockwise from top left: T99 Blues, Red, White & Blues, Five & Dime Blues, Highway 61 Blues, Devil’s Blues, and Room 13 Blues. Room 13 was the poster art for the 1997 Arkansas River Blues Festival, was also the CD cover for Bill King’s “Saturday Night Fishfry,” was included in the 40th Annual National Exhibition of the Society of Illustrators in New York, and in the Communication Arts Magazine Annual of American Illustration. Got some mileage out of that one. The rest were all posters for the Osceola Heritage Music Festival. I attended a number of those festivals and got to meet Son Seals, Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton, the Michael Burks Band, the Cate Brothers, Buddy Jewell, Reba Russell… plus many more I can’t list. Those were good years. My favorite memory is being right in front of the stage when Son Seals played a set with Michael Burks. Just incredible.
