Like all of Nikki’s work, this image was cut from a single sheet of black paper. She creates so much depth and expression from just flat black and white. Like so much of our human and animal experience, it is simple, but it isn’t easy. To my eye, the most rewarding artworks suggest a narrative, they tell a story, in a single frame. Nikki does that.
